August, 2019: Five of Cups + Stars

Happy August.

Some may be looking at the card on the left there thinking, what do you mean ‘happy’?

The card on the left, the Five of Cups, isn’t "bad." At least not from what I see and feel from it, OK?

The Five of Cups is kinda cloudy, kinda gloomy. It can mean rejection. Discouragement. And there could be some amount of ughsadness, hurt, guilt, shame, humiliation, exhaustion, disappointment in this card.

The Five of Cups feels overwhelmed, maybe apologetic.

Regarding feeling overwhelmed:

I hope we consider that the empowerment that came with the Magician didn't happen overnight.

E
mpowerment doesn't happen overnight.

And some have taken big steps and done a LOT of work and put up with a lot.

Thus, reaching a culmination,  whether successful in our efforts or not, can make some of us cry.

It can make some of us emotional.

It can all make some of us feel overwhelmed. Frustrated. In need of a little space.

And none of this makes us abnormal or weak.

It's possible the decision-making and/or planning process hasn't been easy. So I hope some give themselves a break.

The scene in the Five of Cups makes me think of a place, time and/or situation that may not have been... super happy.

Or... perhaps these places and times and situations used to be happy (or happier).

Memories may make some melancholic.

There may be some sensitivity and upset here, too.

Some people may have felt picked on, bullied, shamed, victimized, coerced, and so on.

Bullying or nitpicking types may have been especially petty.

Nooo doubt the Five of Cups is (or has been) hurting. 😔

But although there may be some discouragement (Five of Cups) here, it may not last (The Stars).

It is not strong enough to last.

The Five of Cups can prompt healing and coping with certain challenges as best as possible through emotional release/creativity, confession, re-living certain situations, do-overs, and coming to terms with... some deep stuff.

Because a loss of fluids may be indicated here, there may be a need to replenish fluids

And some may not get everything they want--

But it’s OK.

Maybe...
thank goodness we don’t get everything we want, exactly when we might want it all.

The Five of Cups
may make some feel like they’re leaving a piece of ourselves behind; that someone or something is missing; or we may miss someone or... something.

Surveys may be distributed and taken, stories told, incidents reported

Grievances, complaints are possible.

So is grief
. Our character is dressed in black and appears to be mourning or grieving

Do you know who also wears black?

Batman. Batman also wears black.

Ninjas may wear black.

People celebrating certain events may wear black.

Black is neutral, versatile, and a business or power color in some situations and cultures. Some people wear black not just to indicate mourning or grieving—they wear it because the color is known to be slimming and serious and mysterious and even commanding and authoritative.

Black may not be neon yellow… but it still gets noticed

Black also makes other colors pop.

Interestingly, when I first saw the Five of Cups for August 1st, I thought, “oh awesome.” There’s gray in the sky. The contents of three cups have spilled. Our character looks sad...

Just fantastic.

But as I looked closer at the card, I realized something:

The gray sky?

It’s kinda bright

The clouds in the sky aren’t threatening, scary, ominous.

And upon further inspection of this card, and of the gray sky, I saw little blue-sky bits popping out.

Whatever our gray gloomy sky has been, it may clear up.

A fog may lift.

In the meantime, we may not need sunny skies to have a great time. We can still have a lot of fun, and capture some beautiful moments, on cloudy days.

And the card to the right of the Five of Cups, August 2nd’s card, The Stars, tells me we’ll be able to see stars again.

And by stars, I mean… literal stars… and/or things that spark hope, inspiration, wonder, insight, wisdom, a sense of direction, freshness, clarity, and a little sparkle into our lives.

We know and can trust ourselves.

We can do the best we can.

We are enough.

The Stars may mean an achievement, an award, some (probably not public but still very much appreciated) recognition, a role model, permission, approval, support, promotions, upgrades, and more.

The Stars may mean guidance as well, either for us or for others.

Back to the Five of Cups for a sec:

How have we been making others

(or ourselves) feel?

The Five of Cups may mean a call for empathy or sympathy—or both. For ourselves and/or others.

Business may be personal

Some may need a little space in order to process certain emotions and possibly some losses.

Others may be nursing a cold.

And still others may feel a bit bummed over certain developments, mistakes, failures, and so on.

But all is not lost.

Only the contents of three cups have spilled.

Two cups remain standing.

And whatever is in those two cups… may still propel us toward success.

We can learn and grow and create brilliant things from what we deem to be failures or mistakes now.

Beautiful things can come from the broken and/or discarded.

And we need not "put it all out there" in order to shine.

Congratulations to some of you out there. And I hope you have a wonderful August ❤...

Love,

Deb
